Our cricket team has had a great season this year coming 2nd in the Premier 3 grade. The Edgecombe family has had a lot to do with our cricket 1st XI with many different tips from different generations. Brett Edgecombe is co-captain of the 1st XI and his family has been helping out with the cricket team. David Edgecombe, who is Brett’s father, went to Newlands College in 1978 to 1983 and has been helping out coaching and managing this side. Reece Edgecombe who is Brett's older brother, who left Newlands College a couple years ago, also wanted to give back to the college, as he has also helped co-coach this side. His schoolmate Millind Naidu also assists. Both Millind and Reece were in the Newlands College 1st XI in their day. This team had a great year by reaching the final. Brett top scored in the final with 59 runs but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to get this side on top. The team is super thankful for the Edgecombe family, and everyone else who assisted and contributed to the season as they improved the team and made it enjoyable for everyone.
