Mind Your Own Beeswax!

Annabelle Scott, Brianna Fendall, Jacinta Baier, and Jade Mercer —

This term, for SDL, our class was looking at the United Nations sustainable development goals.

For our project we decided to look into the 12th sustainable development goal which is the responsible consumption and production goal, and the 13th goal which is climate action. So we did beeswax wraps. The reason behind our choice is to reduce the amount of single use plastics being consumed (and going to landfill, causing climate change), replacing it with reusable and sustainable products. Beeswax wraps replace glad wrap, and other single use plastics that people use to wrap up their food.

First we needed to collect data, so we made a survey and got as many people as we could to fill it out. We found out how many people don’t use beeswax wraps and how many people would use them. To present our project to the class, we made a website. This website contains how we made the beeswax wraps, what steps we took to get to the final product, and other information.

We would say that our project was successful, because we have been able to successfully make some beeswax wraps and present our project and the why behind it to a group of people (The class).
