Inter-Intermediate Cross Country
Micah Bailey, Dinagee Heenkenda, and Mei von Dadelszen - May 25, 2022
On the 18th of May, Newlands Intermediate students competed in the 2022 Inter-Intermediate Cross Country Championships. Our team travelled to Harcourt Park, in Upper Hutt, by bus. 2nd place we felt was quite satisfying.
We had six people overall who placed in the top ten. Neve, Lucy, Zoe, George, Shriya and Brooke. Our very own Neve Hermann pipped a Raroan runner to the post and finished top in the Year 7 girls competition.
The 3km track was challenging and included hills, concrete, and stony paths. It was harder in some places for the people who wore spikes, but it was also a disadvantage without them on the slippery ground. It was a very tight competition with Raroa Intermediate winning with a mere 26 points ahead of our team which placed 2nd.
We were very lucky because, as well as having fantastic weather, many parents came to support us.
We all tried our best and had a great experience competing against other schools.
