This year at AIMS Games, there are 370+ schools and over 11,500 children competing.

This year Newlands Intermediate School is participating in AIMS Games. AIMS Games is an inter-school event where schools can send sports teams to compete. This year I’m lucky enough to get chosen to represent NIS for cross country. This year NIS is sending basketball , netball and cross country teams. AIMS Games is held on the 2nd of September to the 8th of September. The teams travel by van up to Tauranga. This year there are 370+ schools and over 11,500 children competing.

In preparation for AIMS, John trains the cross country team on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons during school time. John will be going to AIMS with the cross country as he is our coach. A typical training session would normally consist of 5-6 laps of our school field and 3-4 hill sprints. We take the time to train together to encourage each other, team bond and push each other to work harder. The Team has worked very hard and hope to do well this year.
