This term we took part in Tough Guy and Tough Gal. This is a mud race that takes place every year in Wainuiomata. The day involved lots of challenges such as running through water trails, crawling under barbed wire obstacles, climbing through tunnels, crossing through swamp crossings, pulling yourself up hills and jumping over high fences.

This day didn’t only have physical obstacles but also included challenges from the weather. It was a chilly, wet day. The ground was very damp and there were puddles of mud everywhere, which only added to our fun.

There was fantastic entertainment throughout the day including clowns, music and prize giveaways. Adding onto the special day, there were food trucks containing lots of delicious food and drinks and merch shops that were selling shirts, hoodies, water bottles and beanies that you could buy.

After the races, once everyone had finished, we all had a chance to clean up with the help of the hot showers. At the end, there was a prize giving to acknowledge those who showed commitment and sportsmanship. For participation in this event everyone was awarded a medal.

Overall, this was a day to remember for all of us who participated.
