Room 10’s Bird of the Year: Kakī

Callie and Niamh —

Room 10 has been working towards making the best presentation possible for Bird of the Year.

Room 10 has been working towards making the best presentation possible for Bird of the Year. They have worked hours in the digi room and in the classroom working on their projects. Over time they discovered they needed to step up their game to win. Brainstorming wasn’t working and all hope was lost until some volunteers stepped up and made a website where all of Room 10’s work for Bird of the Year would be displayed.

This year our bird is the kakī bird, also known as the black stilt. It is critically endangered - there are only about 170 birds left in the wild. Room 10 has put a lot of effort into our research of the kakī and now we are ready to inform others about it and raise awareness. We have made a variety of different projects such as drawings, slideshows, posters, videos, and games to show what we have learnt about this rare and unique species. The website includes a donation link to the South Island Wildlife Hospital.

Get involved and vote for the kakī bird for bird of the year.
