Creative arts are a vital and vibrant part of our school. Our Creative Arts programme includes specialist teaching covering music, dance, drama, film and photography and our extra curricular programme in the arts. All students take part in creative arts classes multiple times throughout the year.

Many students choose to join one of our many performing groups, these include Kapa Haka, Dance Teams, Rock Bands, Waiata Mai (Singing), Poly Club, Bollywood Dance, Drama Group, Te Whare Tapere (Māori/Pasifika Performing Arts), Big Band (Orchestra), Theatresports, Shakespeare and Dance Extension. Being part of these groups is highlight of the year for many.

Every year we do a big performance, every second year this is a school production written and directed by Newlands Staff and Students.
