Making a volcano
The other day in Room 14 we learned about volcanos
The Volcano experiment entailed making a handmade volcano with flour for the base and a plastic cup for the crater. Measuring cups for the right amount of ingredients. These ingredients consisted of sugar, yeast, hot water and the flour used to make the outer volcano area.
A metal spoon and popsicle stick were used to stir and place the ingredients in the plastic cup.
The first thing we did was grab the tools we needed, like the spoons and cups. The flour was placed on a plastic tray to hold the volcano, and we put the cup in the middle. With the spoon, we scooped the flour onto the tray and left the opening for the rest of the recipe. Next, we removed the cup for the ingredients.
Then, we grabbed the right amount of sugar and yeast for the lava, and added that to the plastic cup. Placing the plastic cup back in the flour crater, we were handed hot water to pour into the cup. We stirred for a few seconds, and then let it sit.
After a few moments, we saw a reaction from the yeast, sugar and hot water. It was pink, and bubbly, spilling over the edge of the flour volcano.
After staring at the reaction for a minute, we packed up and cleaned everything up.
