Raw Sisters and a Giraffe
Rosa and Margo Flanagan fill our hall with delicious aromas and tempting tastes!
On Wednesday 4th May, Rosie and Margo, also known as the 2 Raw Sisters came and gave a presentation about healthier plant based meals.
First they showed us how to make peanut butter banana bircher (also known as overnight oats). "It was a lot more savory than what I had expected and I thought the cinnamon would have made it sweeter." We felt that it was good that you could add optional ingredients like peanut butter or honey or swap out different fruit. You could put ginger instead of cinnamon too.
After that, they shared with us how to make Teriyaki Fried Rice. What was interesting was it is a good family dinner and it only takes a few ingredients. Again, there were optional things that you could swap in and out. An example of this was you could put in zucchini instead of tomato.
Rosie and Margo have written 3 award winning cookbooks. We found out that if you eat wholegrain bread it gives you more energy than white bread and eating brown rice is better to eat than white rice.
Not only did they share recipes, they also gave us some safe kitchen tips. One of these was how to cut round vegetable or fruit safely like a zucchini.
Noah from room 10 said, "The sauce was quite strong with the chicken but the veges and rice went well with the sauce." Ananya felt, "I had a really texture in my mouth. It melted in there really nicely." And Nicole from room 11 shared "It was a fun experience to learn how to cook without meat."
