From the Principal

The school is an eerie place at level 4 - cold and quiet and dark. Level 3 feels better but it's still not school as we know it.

While many welcome the shift to level 3, school is a strange place to be this week. The few students attending are actually happy to be here - new company, a change in routine and a mix of school work, recreation and games.

We have a couple of bubbles operating this week and we presume most of the next. Each bubble has a small team of teachers supporting the students with their online learning as well as providing opportunities to get some fresh air and a few new interesting things to do.

It's a balancing act for the school's leadership team right now. Supporting our staff who have young families, who care for their own parents, have compromised health themselves, and who are juggling work lives with partners. We are very lucky to have such great support staff and teachers at our school who are all working hard behind the scenes to keep learning going, the school's administration functioning and helping to foster the health and wellbeing of our wider community.

Thank you parents for all you are doing now too - maintaining your own working lives, supporting learning across schools, and managing the demands of your families.

The biggest disappointment we face from lockdowns is the cancellation of so many wonderful events we had planned. I feel sad that for many students these events are part of their childhood and make for wonderful memories.

Roll on level 2! We look forward to welcoming our staff and students back to school.
