END OF YEAR CELEBRATIONS

Neil Fraser —

We will be celebrating our end of year academic achievements, but not in the same format of the past...

After discussions at the November board meeting, and looking at some of the difficulties other schools have been facing by screening various events online, we have decided to share all recipients of the end of year prizes and certificates in a "Celebrations booklet" on 14 December 2021. There are several reasons behind this decision:

  • Under direction from the MOE and MOH, we will remain in Alert level 2 until the end of this school year. We will still restricted by the "100 person rule", which will impact the traditional prizegiving format, including our usual school assemblies. Singing indoors will still not be permitted, and therefore bringing changes to the format of such an event.
  • Various schools have reported a massive increase in online events being hacked (across several online mediums), and then unrelated messages being cast. At this we do not have the capabilities to manage this effectively.
  • Several schools have allowed online attendees by invite only. Unfortunately, these links have been shared with the community in several cases, thus making it difficult to manage the access to these events.
  • Several of our students have restrictions on their images being shared online, and therefore with the increase hacking of online events, we do not wish to put them at risk.

The Celebration Booklet will be sent to all parents and caregivers by Hero on 14 December 2021.
