PLAYGROUND: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Neil Fraser —

After more than 30 years of serving students and the wider community, our school playground is set to receive a much-needed upgrade during Term 2025.

Why a New Playground?

  • The current playground has been a vibrant hub of activity for over 30 years, cherished daily by our students and fondly remembered by many of our parents, and even grandparents, who once played here when they attended this school.

  • With with years of wear and tear, much of the equipment has reached the end of its life and no longer meets modern Health & Safety standards.

  • During winter months, the southern part of the playground becomes waterlogged and unusable. This, combined with the closure of school fields in wet weather, limits safe play spaces for over 300 students during breaks.

Why Is It So Expensive?

The $450,000 investment for new playground equipment is substantial. Quotes from three reputable playground companies have confirmed that the primary cost driver is the size of the area we need to upgrade to ensure it accommodates our large and active student population.

How Is the Upgrade Being Funded?

  • NPS Board Contribution: $200,000 + $50,000
Thanks to prudent financial management, the Board is contributing $200,000 toward the project, with an additional $50,000 set aside to cover any shortfall if external grants are not secured.

  • Kids First & Community Fundraising: $25,000
Over the past 18 months, fundraising events like the Kids Quiz-a-thon, Quiz Nights, and school discos have enabled Kids First to contribute $25,000 on top of their annual $15,000 support. This incredible effort has been made possible by the unwavering support of our school community.

  • The following grants have also been received

    • Grassroots Trust: $25,000

    • LotteryFacilities Fund: $200,000

This exciting upgrade wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of our community and the incredible efforts of Kids First and the Board over the years. Together, we are creating a safe, fun, and inclusive space where future generations of students can play, learn, and grow. Stay tuned for updates as we approach construction, scheduled to begin midway through Term 1, 2025.
