Enrolment Process

In order to contact the school about enrolling your child please email office@ngutuawa.school.nz or you can download an enrolment form below.

We encourage families to enrol at least six months before their child will be starting school. An early enrolment allows us to plan for a smooth transition to school, and means that we will have your contact details for school visits and to invite you to our Transition to School meeting for new parents (held once a term).

When enrolling, you will need a copy of your child's birth certificate or passport, an immunisation certificate and proof that you live within our enrolment zone.

Our Zone:

Out of Zone

Ngutuawa School has an Enrolment Zone. All students who live in the Home Zone are eligible to enrol at the school.

Each year, the Ngutuawa School Board may determine the number of places which are likely to be available for the enrolment of students who live outside the Home Zone.

The School Board must publish a public notice confirming the dates for the receipt of applications and for the holding of any ballot and stating the likely number of out of zone places that remain available.

Out of Zone Places for 2025

The Ngutuawa School Board has determined that up to 6 places are available at New Entrant level for the rest of 2025.

For children to enrol in Term 4, 2025 the application deadline is Wednesday 20 August 2025

Please complete the Out of Zone application form and email it to the School Office by the application closing date (admin@ngutuawa.school.nz) to ensure that your child’s name is placed on the list.

Order of Priority

The Ngutuawa School Enrolment Scheme provides that applications for Out of Zone enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:

1. First priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special

programme approved by the Secretary for Education.

2. Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the

school.

3. Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the

school.

4. Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is the child of a former student of the

school.

5. Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of an employee of the school’s

board or a child of a member of the school’s board.

6. Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.

Ballot

If the number of Out of Zone applications exceeds the number of places available and there are more applicants in a priority group than there are places available, students within the priority group will be selected by ballot on the Friday following the closing date. The ballot will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of regulations issued under Schedule 20 to the Education and Training Act 2020.

Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
