Ngā mihi

Dy Stirling —

E Pā was the kaumatua at Hatō Ōpani and I first met him in 1993 when I was a kaiako at Rehua Kohanga Reo. A fluent speaker and passionate about his culture and language, E Pā taught hundreds of tamariki te reo me ōna tikanga Māori, always with an excellent sense of humour and with his infamous "lumpy stamps" (lollies sellotaped to tamariki's work ). He was honarary koro to all his akonga, and a number of the kaiako too and he will be missed. E moe rā, E Pā. He mihi arohanui hoki ki te whānau whānui o Tawiti Ruru, kua ngaro a ia ki te pō, he aitua. Our sympathies to Chrissy Ward, Horowai Wetini and te whānau whānui.

All our aroha and we hope you had a lovely birthday 💕
