The Ministry of Education have a grant which both our centres receive called Targeted Funding for disadvantaged and is to help those centres where 20% of children attending have spent the largest portion of their life as the dependent of a beneficiary and are considered to be from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Nōku Te Ao uses this funding for both centres - in the past it has been used to cover some of the groceries, some extra costs for haerenga so whānau do not have to pay, and getting in other kaiako so we can take tamariki out on haerenga and walks or to help cope on days where we have more tamariki with specific needs to be met. In 2024 this funding was put towards employing extra kaiako to ensure quality and safety for our tamariki.
