Te haerenga ki Te Whakatakaka O Te Ngarehu O Ahi Tamatea (Hanmer trip!)

Noku Te AoJuly 22, 2020

Two sleeps to go!

The date we are going is Friday, 23rd October 2020.

The kaupapa whakahauora for this trip is:

Our ratio is 1/1 in water so if your tamaiti is going they need an adult to be going with them. For Nōku Te Ao this is 1 adult per tamaiti. The Hanmer Pools ratio is 1:4 under 5 within arms reach at all times. If you are attending and have both preschool and school age tamaiti you need a separate person for both age groups, ie a whānau with a preschooler and a 5 year old need 2 adults supervising.

Hanmer pool ratios are: Under 5 - 1:4 within arms reach at all times

5-7 years - 1:4

8-12 years - 1:6

13-15 years - 1:8

16 + - 1:10

Again, if you have a preschooler, a 5 year old and a 13 year old you need 3 adults.

Whānau need to make their own way up to Hanmer. We all gather at Nōku te Ao ki Mairehau for karakia for a safe trip at 9.15 am and then it's off to Hanmer!

At the pools, Nōku Te Ao will pay for one adult and, if necessary, the Nōku Te Ao tamaiti, but if you want to bring other whānau they are most welcome - just at their own cost. I will be at the front desk of the pools until 11 am (so you need to get there before then). Then we spend a nice day relaxing and, as one of our mātua Bevan Tipene-Matua once said, “whanaungatanga-ing”.

Please be aware if you cannot attend you will need to find alternative care for your tamaiti for the day, as all kaiako will be going. Also, for those not able to attend, this day is not charged.

Ngā mihi.
