Mokopuna Ora Funding information

Noku Te AoOctober 4, 2020

Mokopuna Ora is a grant we receive from Te Putahitanga.

We have been receiving this grant over the past 3 years and it is to help support the wellbeing of under 5 year olds and their whānau.

The main objective Nōku Te Ao applied for is to help us help medium Māori ECE kaiako gain qualifications and increase the pool of Māori speaking kaiako in Canterbury. The fund allows us to mentor and support study time for the kaiako. We currently have 1 trainee kaiako.

Other uses for this funding are promoting te reo me ōna tikanga Māori. We will be looking at ways to promote this with you all - if you have any suggestions please3 let us know.

One other activity we are using the funding for is for whānau members to upgrade or gain their driver's licenses. If you are needing to upgrade or you want to start driving lessons to get your license, get in touch and we will start organising - same details as in the previous paragraph.

We also subsidise swimming lessons for our tamariki! If you would like us to help you pay for swimming lessons for your tamaiti/tamariki please get in contact with Dy (0273293936).

The latest idea we have thought of to help promote healthy lifestyles for our moko is to pay for households to register with Friends of St John's. This is an awesome programme that not only supports St John's ambulance, once registered it allows your household free usage of the ambulance service should you ever need to use it. If you are interested in this please get in touch with Dy (number above) as there are some terms and conditions.

This funding also has an emergency taura tautoko part to it which means if you find yourself in need of help for your tamaiti, we can help you. For example, we can help with epipens, with allergy screening, glasses or hearing aids, as well as any other necessary items or services. If you need to access this funding, please contact us for details.

Ngā mihi.
