Staff changes

Sam Turner —

Friday 24th November 2023

We regret to inform you that there are staff changes ahead for the end of 2023. At the end of the school term we will say farewell to two very special members of staff who have been influential throughout the school during their time with us. Both staff members will be farewelled along with our Year 6 students at the final assembly Thursday 14th December at 1.50pm in the school hall.

Firstly we say farewell to Mr Nick Jones who is currently teaching in Kaitau 1. Mr Jones has been at Te Kura o Matarangi Northcote School for the past six years. He has been an important member of our senior school during this time and has completed his beginning teacher requirements as well. Mr Jones is moving to Riverlands School in Blenheim where he has chosen to relocate with his partner Christine. We wish Mr Jones all the best for his new adventure and thank him for his service here.

Secondly we will farewell Mrs Leona Withington who is retiring from her role as Office Administrator after 20 years at Te Kura o Matarangi Northcote School. Leona is looking forward to her retirement and spending time with her grandchildren. She has been the face of the school for a long time now and we all appreciate the length of service she has given to this community. We may still see Leona from time to time in 2024 but we wish her all the best for this next chapter of her life.

Additionally Mrs Georgia Connelly will be going on Maternity Leave at the beginning of the 2024 school year. We will see Mrs Connelly around the school for the first couple of weeks of the new year but she will not be assigned to a classroom.

With some amazing people leaving we need some new amazing staff to fill the void. We are welcoming Miss Erica George who will be teaching in our Junior School next year. Miss George comes to us from Halswell Primary and has previously taught at Methven Primary also. She has a love of the outdoors and getting our tamariki outside of the classroom. We look forward to welcoming her to our staff for 2024.

In the next newsletter there will be a full explanation of our 2024 staff and where they will be based. We are just finalising a couple of positions at this point in time and will have more clarity for you in the next couple of weeks.

Next Friday you will receive a letter naming the classroom and teacher that your child will be placed with in 2024. Please look out for this in your child's bag.
