New Entrant Children

It is highly recommended that you pre-enrol your child at least 6 weeks prior to them starting school. You can click on the button below to download an enrolment form or you can come into the office and fill one in there. You must bring in your child’s birth certificate and/or passport and also your child’s immunisation information to complete your enrolment.

On completion of this process you will be given information for your child’s pre-school visits. The purpose of these visits is to give your child the opportunity to become familiar with class routines and to meet his/her future classmates and teacher.

For more information about New Entrants starting, pick up a brochure from the office when you enrol.

Year 1 - 6 children

Fill in an enrolment form and bring it into the office. If the child is from overseas the appropriate documents for your child need to be presented - i.e. student visa. Again it is advised to do this at least 6 weeks prior to starting, if possible, to give your child’s teacher the opportunity to prepare his/her class for your child.

All children will be expected to wear the school uniform on their first day. The sweatshirt and polo shirt can be purchased from the office.

Each year, applications for enrolment in the following year from in-zone students will be sought by a date that will be published in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. This will enable the board to assess the number of places that can be made available to students who live outside the home zone.

Out of Zone Enrolments

Each year the Board of Trustees will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The Board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.

Email the office (admin@northcotechch.school.nz) to ensure your child's name is on our list for 2025.

A ballot will be held for each term as follows:

  • For children to enrol in Term 1, 2025 application deadline is Wednesday 18 September 2024

  • For children to enrol in Term 2, 2025 application deadline is Wednesday 12 March 2025

  • For children to enrol in Term 3, 2025 application deadline is Wednesday 28 May 2025

  • For children to enrol in Term 4, 2025 application deadline is Wednesday 20 August 2025

  • For children to enrol in Term 1, 2026 application deadline is Wednesday 15 October 2025

Places cannot be offered in advance as the actual number of places available for each term will change depending on the number of applications received for the current term's ballot

The Board has determined that up to 10 places at New Entrant level are available for 2025.

If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot on the Friday following the closing date. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • First Priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education.

  • Second Priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.

  • Third Priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.

  • Fourth Priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.

  • Fifth Priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.

  • Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions by the Secretary, under Section 11G (1) on the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
