Principal Panui
Kia Ora Koutou,
Recently we received the sad news of the passing of a much loved community member Tahi Ratapu, For many years Tahi supported the school by helping in the vegetable garden with the music playing, as well as helping at our community events. Even though Tahi's grandchildren have moved on from our kura, Tahi remained involved and as recently as late June was involved with organising our Matariki breakfast. We will greatly miss Tahi's presence around the school.
We are also farewelling a staff member, with Debbie Woods, one of our amazing learning assistants moving on to a new role outside of education. Debbie has been a learning assistant at our kura for the past eight years, and will be greatly missed by staff and students alike. We wish Debbie all the best as she moves into her new role.
On a happier note our Year Six students have been away on camp this week, and next week we are celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo / Māori Language Week. Our senior kapa haka group are performing next Thursday morning at the North Canterbury Kapa Haka Festival in Ohoka, the first time we have been able to perform at a festival since 2020. The PTA are also holding a disco next Friday, in addition to us also having our community hāngī at lunchtime on Friday. So it's a busy week ahead!
Also a reminder that school will be closed on Monday 26th September to commemorate the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
