Wild Dunedin —

Watch the Northern Royal Albatross at Pukekura/Taiaroa Head on the Royal Cam, a 24-hour live stream of an albatross nest showing all the activity happening as the parents raise their chick. This season's chick, a female, hatched on 31 January 2020.

Nothing quite replaces the experience of being in the observatory, but with the lockdown The Royal Albatross Centre is closed to the public.

In the meantime the Royal Cam is a great way to connect children to the life of an albatross chick at Taiaroa Head.

"My grandson Beau when visiting the albatross immediately searched and spotted the camera. Beau knew all about that albatross nest as he'd been watching the Royal Cam at home." Jeannie Hayden  — Image by: Jeannie Hayden
