Royal Albatross Express Tours 22-28 April 🏅

Otago Peninsula Trust —

Join us at the tip of the Otago Peninsula for a special 30min express tour to see our albatross chicks. Tours run every day over the festival from 10.30am - 3pm, as well as fun-filled activities for the kids.

Want to see giant fluffy chicks? Interested in seeing the world’s largest seabird – with its huge wingspan of three metres?

Our Royal Albatross Colony is famous as the world’s only mainland albatross breeding colony. Here you might see adult albatross flying as they come in to feed their chicks. It’s a breathtaking sight to see this huge bird soaring over your head.

Children attending this event can earn a Kiwi Guardian Wild Dunedin Medal. The Royal Albatross Centre  will give you the information on how to claim your medal on www.wilddunedin.nz.

Come and spend some time with your family at the Royal Albatross Centre. There is lots to do and learn. The Centre offers wildlife tours on Taiaroa Head where you can view Royal Albatross, Little Blue Penguins and many other seabirds from our exclusive purpose-built viewing areas.

It also features an interactive gallery, education room, superb cafe, souvenir shop and is home to historic FortTaiaroa. It’s important to pre-book tours, so you don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to see the world’s only accessible albatross colony yourself.

Entry to the centre is free and there are extra special tour rates for the Wild Dunedin Festival

The Royal Albatross Centre is owned by the Otago Peninsula Trust, whose objective is the protection and enhancement of the Otago Peninsula. Your support helps our wildlife thrive.
