Learning Access-Seesaw

Margaret Trotter —

As more information continues to be available the school is busy with planning and connecting our students with their families. Please upload the seesaw app to enable your child's teacher to share your child's learning. Please contact your child's teacher if you need any help.

We have implemented Seesaw across all year levels to have a consistent approach for families, teachers and students.  This is part of our planning to ensure students will have access to their learning whether at school or at home. This will enable children to still be connected to their teachers and classroom if they are needing to be at home.

We are implementing a hybrid learning framework where students will be using a range of tools in their learning at school so if they are at home they will be familiar with the online learning platforms. We want the children and you to be familiar with what we are using so that any home learning is manageable for everyone.  We know there will be staff and students away due to illness  and  we may need to make adjustments to our learning spaces.  This will be done on a needs basis.

Information from the University of Auckland clinical psychologist Dr Melanie Woodfield said there was a strong case for keeping schools open and accessible despite the rising infections. “Inequality seems to have been exacerbated by lockdowns, families are fatigued, and young children benefit from consistency.” Children also benefited from the social connectedness of being at school, she said. “They’re developing their sense of identity, who they are as a person, what their values are, and what’s important to them.”
