Feeling rattled by the quakes?

No one likes being woken up in the middle of the night. Least of all when your house is rocking and rolling because of an earthquake. Following a big event like that it’s perfectly normal to feel a bit anxious and scared.

If you’re feeling a bit shaken up help is just a phone call or web chat away thanks to 0800 What’s Up. 0800 What’s Up is New Zealand’s most-accessed counselling helpline for children and a service of Barnardos New Zealand. They’ve had quite a few kids calling about the quakes and so right now they have more trained counsellors available to listen and offer helpful advice.

It’s 100% free to call or web chat with a counsellor and they’re available 365 days a year – further detail on times is available below. Please take advantage of this great service if you need it.

Call 0800 WHATSUP (0800 942 8787) FREE from a mobile or landline Monday to Friday 1pm-10pm and Saturday and Sunday 3pm-10pm. What’s Up Web Chat (also free) is available from 5pm-10pm seven days a week at www.whatsup.co.nz
