Buddy Reading 2023
Every day, there are many students out during lunch Read and Feed reading with the juniors, this is what goes on during buddy reading.
Buddy readers are people that go to other classrooms and read to the younger students. Some students read to their buddies and some students help their Buddy Read. There are two students from Taiheke that go down to the year twos everyday and help a buddy with their reading.
Buddy Reading is a way for the senior students to connect and form new relationships with different students from the Junior part of the school and all of the juniors look forward to their buddy reading session!
Esther - I have really enjoyed Buddy Reading this year. I joined in term 1 and have signed up every term since. I have also taken part in buddy reading every day with a student from year 2. My favourite part of buddy reading is seeing all the younger kids really happy to be at buddy reading and seeing them improve in their reading.
Maya - I have had lots of fun making connections with other students and helping them improve with their reading. I have done it for the whole year as I really enjoy it and have had lots of fun with my different buddies throughout the year.
Emma - I have had lots of fun meeting all the little kids. It's really nice to see them when we go because they are always so excited and happy to see us. They also come up to us at break and say hi which is also really nice.
Amelia W - It was really nice to have connections with my little buddies and even when I got new buddies they still come up to me and tell me how they're doing. It makes me really happy when they are excited to read and see us. This makes a positive thing to look forward to during the day.
Adan - I enjoy little kids reading with me and when I read to them they actually listen and focus on what I am reading and when I get new buddies I introduce myself to them and sometimes at morning tea and lunchtime they come up to me and say hi, it's so cute!
