Oaklands School Board of Trustees – Term 4 Update
We would like to wish all staff and families an enjoyable
break over the Christmas period. Those
students leaving for High School or other schools, we wish you all the best.
The school will re-open on Monday 30th January 2016.
We would like to congratulate Mrs Trotter on being voted to become the President of CPPA from March next year.
In the case of any significant natural disaster, the school will be closed for the following school day to enable adequate safety checks to be made and enable the welfare of staff and students to be assessed. The BOT chair and the principal would decide what constitutes a significant event.
School Lockdown
The board would like to thank staff and students for all their efforts in
managing the lockdown, the school followed its procedures and received
acknowledgement from NZ Police on our procedures. A letter from NZ Police was sent to the
school to remind parents that we need to wait for the all clear before heading
into school.

Cultural Narrative
As part of the education brief the school worked with our local iwi to put together the culture narrative. It is available for parents to view http://www.oaklands.school.nz/a/L1QCJVl
School Redevelopments
We will continue the collaboration models that we presented to you at our parent meetings this year.
All year levels will be organised into hubs. Students will not have a specific classroom. This means that one classroom space will be the Whanau Hui room (the meeting room where all the year group will meet to start the day as a year group). Depending on the programme students will then be grouped for their learning needs and will be working with specific teachers on their goals as identified in their learning pathways. Bags and lunch boxes will be in set cloakrooms and stationery will be stored in individual containers to enable them to be moved with the children.
This is to prepare our students at Oaklands School for our rebuild in 2018
Gala
The Board would like to thank the PTA and volunteers that helped at this year’s
Gala. This events is enjoyed by all students performing to their families and
the community.
Board minutes are available for viewing at the School Office. Each Board agenda is available to be viewed in the School Office on the Notice Board, the Monday before each board meeting.
