This year we had two Year 7/8 teams. They played weekly at Pioneer during Winter.

Year 7/8 Basketball: Monday

The 7/8 Monday team had a tough season. They were graded v some very skilled teams and were involved in lots of close tussles. They improved on the their team play and learnt to work hard on defence as the season progressed. The area they need to work on for next season is their shooting %. The game of the season was their big win v South Intermediate. The score was 18-5. South Intermediate didn’t score one basket in the second half.

Ryan: I improved my play in the post under the basket. My Dad was helping me with that. It was cool going to the Canterbury Tournament.

Jake: I like the way we could win and lose as a team. We stuck together.

Dylan: I thought my defending has improved this year.

Year 7/8 Basketball: Friday

The Friday 7/8 team consisted of players who were learning the game or playing for the first time. As the season progressed all of the players learnt key skills like passing, shooting and how to play tough defence. Players who stood out were Jonathan and Monique. Jonathan for his great leadership and Monique for her commitment to rebounding the ball.

Jak and Fletcher: We enjoyed playing basketball and working together as a team.

Shaeden: I feel like I've improved my shooting because I often practice at the park after school.

Jonathan: I enjoyed playing with players with less experience, it was a chance to be a leader.
