T2, Week 4 Review

karen van gelder-horgan —

Topic and Writing:

Our topic for the term is Habitats and Life Cycles. It has been great to see students get enthusiastic and share their ideas and opinions in class. As part of this, we learnt that all living creatures have seven processes in common. We used the MR GREN acronym to help us remember these processes: Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion and Nutrition. After much discussion it was decided that a Robot is not living and has never been alive.

We integrated topic into our writing this week, learning about the rainforest and all the things that make it unique and important to our ecosystem. Take a look at some of our writing in the pictures attached to this blog.

Reading

Reading has continued as normal, and we should all be coming home with a new book everyday. Miss van Gelder's reading class have been learning to make inferences: next time you want a job done around the home, maybe drop some clues/hints as to what you want done.

Maths

Many groups have been learning about place value.

Drumming

To end the week with a bang we have been doing drumming on a Friday afternoon. We have been finding it challenging to keep in time with each other and to remember what move comes next in the piece.
