Straight back into it!
No time to waste. Term 3 here we come.
The Seniors have started Term 3 with energy and enthusiasm. We have spent part of our time in the first few days revisiting the concept of collaboration. In particular, how we can do effectively to get the most out of our learning time. The students have take this on board and for the most part, learning time has been settled and productive. We look forward to this continuing throughout the term. Check out the image showing our collaborations expectations attached to this article.
In Reading we have started the term with students in reading groups focussing on the gaps in their national standards sheets.
In Maths we have shifted our focus back to Number and students are working on demonstrating their ability to use a variety of different number strategies to solve a range of maths problems.
Home learning continues with the expectations being the same as always. Students are asked to complete at least 1 and a half hours of IXL maths at home. We encourage them to focus on activities that they are part of their in class Maths goal. We are also continuing with our 40 book reading challenge. You can support your child with this by ensuring that they have a novel to read and by checking in regularly to see how they are going. We expect that students would have read about 20 books by this stage of the year.
Term 3 promises to be a busy and exciting term with some big events on the Year 7/8 calendar due to happen this term. Our quiz night, the major fundraiser for our Year 8 Wellington Trip, is set to take place on Friday 8 September. Koru Games will take place from 19-21 September.
Looking forward to a cracker term.
