Goodbye Holidays! Hello Term 4!

Lance Muller —

Once again this term promises to be and action packed.

Our big learning focus at the start of the term will be Integrating Reading and Writing  as we investigate the concept of NZ Identity. Students will be learning about New Zealand's Parliament/ Government, WW1 and the Treaty of Waitangi. They will then apply this new knowledge to poetry writing. This promises to be an interesting and fun unit of learning.

In Maths we will revisiting Number, continuing to learn strategies that will help us to solve harder problems.

Another big focus this term is Formal Dance. Students will be learning a variety of formal dance techniques which they will show case at the Senior Formal on Friday 8 December.

Home learning continues with the expectations being the same as al ways. Students are asked to complete at least 1 and a half hours of IXL maths at home. We encourage them to focus on activities that they are part of their in class Maths goal. We are also continuing with our 40 book reading challenge. You can support your child with this by ensuring that they have a novel to read and by checking in regularly to see how they are going. We expect that students would have read about 20 books by this stage of the year.

Term 4 promises to be a busy and exciting term with some big events in the calendar. Keep an eye on the newsletter to see what is happening.

Looking forward to a cracker term.
