Canterbury Netball Tournament.

Lance Muller —

On Thursday 23 August our Year 7/8 Netball competed at the Canterbury Winter Tournament.

After winning the Netball competition at the South West Zone Winter Tournament,  our Year 7/8 Netball Team stepped up to the next level of competition and competed in the Canterbury Winter Tournament.

As expected, competition was fierce. The team played 6 games, winning 3 and losing 3. It was great to see the girls pulling together as a team. They represented Oaklands with pride and  can be very happy with their achievements.

Read below to see what the girls thought about their Winter Tournament experience:

Amber G: I thought it was a good experience for the team to play other schools for practice for Koru games. I also think it was a good opportunity to see what we need to improve on.

Madeline: I really liked the netball tournament, we played six games and won three. My favourite thing about it was getting to play with my friends and see all our netball skills improve. Bring on Koru Games.

Amber M: I thought that the Netball Canterbury's was very exciting and very hard, But, It was really nice to meet new people that I have never met before.

Tanika: I thought it was a great experience and was just as fun as last year and it got everyone to work as a team. My favourite part of the tournament was when everyone started to understand everyone else’s strengths and weaknesses. I’m really excited for the Koru Games!

Zara: I thought the tournament was a fun and new experience. It really got us to work together.

Annabel: I thought it was a great way for us to work as a team. It also was a great day to play netball as it was nice and warm.

The netball team are building to their next big event; The Koru Games. This will see them competing over 3 days against schools from all over the South Island.
