Oaklands School Graduate Profile
Our goal is that all learners graduating from Oaklands School will develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes that they will need to be successful life-long learners.
In 2015 the staff at Oaklands School used research from around the world which outlined the key attributes students would need to develop to access employment, create solutions to protect our dwindling resources and lead happy, productive lives in the future. They looked for common themes that were identified by all researchers and discussed whether these themes fit well under our four CARE values.
We came up with eight learner qualities, linking two to each of our CARE values. They are:
Community: Belong (Our connection to land, place and culture) and Collaborate (To learn with and from each other).
Active Thinking: Question (We are curious and open to new learning) and Connect (Linking knowledge and ideas).
Respect: Empathise (Understand the feelings of others) and Communicate (Share and exchange ideas).
Excellence: Be resilient (React positively to challenge) and Be self aware (Know ourselves as learners).
In the hall foyer a display has been set up by the Education brief team which includes an invitation for you to provide feedback on the graduate profile. Please try and visit the hall foyer before or after school in the next few weeks as we would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
