SW Zones Swimming - We were there, and we did very well!
40 strong, the Oaklands swim squad took on the might of the other SW zone schools, with 10 different students placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Read on to find out who.
Originally slated for Jellie Park, this year saw the swimmers of the South West zone schools zooming down the motorway to the recently refurbished Selwyn Aquatic Centre in Rolleston.
Competition was tough, and with a place at the Centrals event on 30th March up for grabs, swimmers left nothing in the water in their quest to make the 'Big One'
We had a very successful swim meet, resulting in 3 individual and 1 relay first; 1 individual and 1 relay second, and 5 third placings. The top three in Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke qualify for the Centrals event, whilst only first place in relay earns you an entry.

With Jake away overseas, that means we have 5 swimmers who will be back there again next Thursday, taking on the best of the zones from Canterbury.
