Year 3-8 Swim Fun Day
We had a great time down at Halswell Pool and Halswell Domain last week. Here are some photos of us on the day, and we hear from some students about what they enjoyed.
I enjoyed doing the length race because I came third and almost came second. I also enjoyed the games in the domain because the 12:45pm games were free choice. I did a game where we had a rainbow parachute with a ball on it and we launched the parachute up and the ball flew up, and we had to try and catch the ball. I also played Batdown.
I also enjoyed the swimming pool free time and the big splash competition even though Miro (my house) came last. My final thing that I enjoyed was playing jailbreak with Mrs Mckay. Which is where there are police and you have to try to get to the other end without being tagged and if you get tagged you have to go to the prison cells. If the teacher says it's a normal day in prison, then you cannot save anyone from the prison. But if the teacher says ‘jailbreak’, you can save someone from prison. Then you can walk to the other end without being tagged.

I loved the length race because I came fourth place in the swim race
I liked the domain because we could toss the ball in the sky and catch it with the parachute.
- Aidan Yr 5/6
I enjoyed doing the length race because I came 1st, and doing the house races. I also enjoyed the games at the domain, I liked hanging out with my friends, I liked doing the biggest splash in the house games and having free time in the domain and the pool. I liked Japanese Dodge Ball. The other game was with Mrs McKay. She was running jailbreak. I really wanted to play it.
- Connagh Yr 5/6
The thing I enjoyed the most was the house games because we had to beat the other house. I versed rata first and then Kōwhai. Rimu won twice. We did the greatest SPLASH. At the domain we played Japanese Dodge Ball. It was fun. I keep getting hit but they could only hit the knees and below. I was in Connagh’s team.

I thought the swimming fun day was great fun because everyone was giving it a go and tried their best. Even if they weren't the best swimmers, and I really enjoyed swimming and all the great activities too.

I enjoyed doing the free swimming in Halswell Pool. I also liked playing the games in the domain. We also got to have some free time when we were in the domain. In the pool l liked how we did a race in our house colours to see who could do the biggest splash and Rimu won (Kōwhai, my house, came 2nd).

I enjoyed the width race because I came first. I also enjoyed the freetime in the pool because I could find some rings at the bottom. At the domain I enjoyed the hula-hoop game where we held hands, and brought the hula-hoop over our head and through our legs to the next person. And finally I enjoyed playing with a big rainbow parachute.

I enjoyed walking to Halswell Pool and doing all the games at the domain, especially with the ball and the parachute. I liked helping to show how to do the games. In the pool I loved how we got to do house games like which house colour could make the biggest splash. My house colour won and I was so happy. In the games (not in the water). Maia Lilly, Ella or Lillie and I played elastics. Maia and I went together. Then we went to the parachute and Maia and I got stuck inside the parachute.
