Patere Week 9!

Emily Radka —

Wow! What an amazing week Patere has had. Check out what has been happening in Week 9 and what is still to come for our last week of Term 3.

On Tuesday we held our Spring Fun Run. It was so lovely to have our parents and whanau come and join us for lunch and help cheer us on. A huge thank you to the PTA for running the sausage sizzle for us. And a massive well done to all the students who ran the Fun Run and the competitive Race. You were all amazing and showed the CARE Values.

Next week we will be having a number of activities during the week to celebrate our cultural week.

We will be completing the week on Friday 30 September with:

1. 8.30am shared breakfast in your child's learning space. We would love you to join us with sharing food that reflects your child's culture. Please have your child bring a plate to share.

2. 9am-9.20am-sharing the learning you are welcome to stay in the learning spaces and look at the different learning activities.

3. 9.30am- multicultural parade-the children will be able to share their country's flag and dress in their country's dress in our parade around the school field.

In He Puna we have sung Samoan songs, used Samoan greetings and made tapa cloths for Samoan language week. We also looked at what houses were like in different parts of the world and made playdough food, crepes from France and potato pancakes from Poland. Played Japanese themed Ict games and listened to music from around with world. looking forward to more activities next week as we continue the multicultural theme.

One of our wonderful parents is a police officer who has volunteered to come in on Tuesday 27th sept to raise awareness, and teach our students about all the awesome work the police do for our community. We are super excited to learn all we can from Luke, and he even said he will treat us to a look around his police car! We can't wait to see the lights and siren in action!
