Hub 5 Distance Learning
Hello, Parents and Caregivers of Hub 5.
The Hub 5 Distance Learning Programme will begin tomorrow.
Our intention with this programme is to provide some resources for students to carry on with their learning independently and to provide some face to face meetings via Zoom. The activities will be a mixture of online and non-online activities.
It is up to families how much of the learning the students will participate in and complete. It might only be 30 minutes or it might be that you only complete ½ of the activities.
How it will work?
All learning will be available on this Hub 5 Distance Learning Slide. This will provide links, Zoom meeting links and activities for students to complete.
Each day at 4pm, the teachers slide will change with a timetable for the following day. This will not be a new google presentation but just a new slide on the Hub 5 Distance Learning Slide. We will email the students to let them know. This will look like the screenshot at the top of this post. As a general rule, we will be running Zoom meetings in the morning, with the students doing independent learning in the afternoon.
The timetable will have links at the top which are for the Zoom meetings. It is important that students know which Group and Mini Group they are in so they can attend the right Zoom Meeting.
There are Independent Learning Tasks listed towards the bottom of the timetable. If any of these are highlighted yellow, there may be some parental help needed.
What do you need to do in preparation?
Ensure that your child knows which Zoom group and mini-group they are in.
Ensure that your child can access their school email address. We would suggest that students access the Hub 5 Distance Learning Slide from their email. This will mean that all Google Classroom links should work
Why Groups and Mini Groups?
Groups will be used for delivering some online lessons
Mini Groups will be used for checking in on how the students are going. Some students are more confident at talking in smaller groups.

At this stage, we are unsure how long we will be in lockdown for. With this in mind, we have tried not to introduce too many new things for this week. Each week, we will introduce 1-2 new things.
