Kōmingo news!
Kōmingo is getting amongst the world whether it be through some exciting engineering on rockets, getting their gardening gloves dirty or running in zones, they have made us all proud.
Rockets!
Mr Forman has lifted off on his rocket challenge with some help from local engineers! last week he was able to get out and set off some test flights which seemed to go off without a hitch.
Message from Mr Forman - Kia ora all, as part of our 'My i-time' on Friday, students have selected an area of interest that they will be involved with this term. One of these groups is the 'Wonder Project- Rocket Challenge'. This is a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) initiative to promote STEM subjects in schools. As part of this, we have Petra, an engineer from Stantec, join this group each Friday afternoon. The aim is to design a rocket (1.5l coke-type bottle) that will fly using a launcher system. We did initial testing last week looking at the variables of water amount and psi levels (how much air we pump in). We are now at the design and build stage.
Gardening is getting green!
Our gardens have really started to fill out. I want to thank those students who have put in some hard mahi to get to where we are. As a treat we have sourced 4 bird houses that the students have been painting and leaving a bit of creativity behind. I am really impressed with these students work effort.
Cross country zones
Perfect weather for a perfect day! All of our students did so well, many of our students placed and we are proud of the effort that every student made on the day. Hopefully we get the same weather for the next event.
