2019 has been a busy year for the student leaders. Read below to find out what their thoughts are on their 2019 experience.

Leadership Position: Rata House Captain.

Top moments this year: Going to the GRIP Leadership thing in town.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Being a house captain, sharing in front of the whole school and being a role model for the younger students.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Make sure you are always doing the right thing.

Top moments this year: Just helping out and being a student leader!

Challenges/ tough times this year: When we have to put in the notices every morning, its ok the first time but after awhile it just gets a bit boring.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Put all you have in because you are a student leader and your job is to help lead the school.

Top moments this year: Doing the pozi collection and helping out with fun days.

Challenges/ tough times this year: This year one of the challenges was getting up and speaking in assembly.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Get involved and have fun while at it and have a great time.

Top moments this year: My top moment this year was watching the year 1 & 2 kids running around playing games that they love.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Putting the notices in every Monday, Tuesday and sometimes a Wednesday.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Have a great time doing your job because if you do that you will have a great time.

Top moments this year: My top moments this year were getting to join in on sports fundays and get to dress up in my house colors.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Some of my challenges this year were that I didn’t really get to help much with the Peer Mediator things.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Get involved and make a difference and be really supportive to your house and just have fun.

Top moments this year: Running the swimming sports.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Cleaning the P.E shed because it has been a mess.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Be sensible.

Top moments this year: One of my top moments this year was when we got to go out and ask businesses if they could help fundraise for our quiz night.

Challenges/ tough times this year: One of the toughest times for me this year was when I had to close assembly for the first time which was really nerve wracking.

Advice for future Student Leaders:

Leadership Position: Deputy Head Boy

Top moments this year: One of my top moments this year was that we got help out at the Quiz night. I also enjoyed the GRIP Leadership Conference.

Challenges/ tough times this year: One of the toughest things this year was that at the end of the term and welcome assemblies I had to talk to the whole school.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Some advice is that if your friends talk to you too much I think that you should stay away from them and just get involved and make a difference.

Top moments this year: My top moment this year is going to the GRIP leadership program because it was really fun.

Challenges/ tough times this year: A challenge this year was speaking in front of the whole school because I hadn’t really spoken in front of a big group before this year.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Get involved in as much as you can.

Leadership Position: Kowhai House Captain

Top moments this year: My top moments this year were getting to help out at the different sports events that happened throughout the year. I really liked helping with swimming because I handed out lots of pozis and it was fun in the pool. I also like the Grip Leadership program because I learnt lot's.

Challenges/ tough times this year: It was challenging when we had to share the house points in Assembly because I hadn’t done much speaking in front of a big group before.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Get involved in all the different opportunities you get because they are lots of fun. Also support your house.

Leadership Position: Head Peer Mediator

Top moments this year: My top moments this year were helping with sports events and simply helping around the school.

Challenges/ tough times this year: A challenge from this year was having to talk about the Peer Mediators at assemblies and remembering to do notices.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Some advice for future student leaders is try to keep up to date with your learning because it will give you more chances to be involved around the school.

Top moments this year: Issuing and returning books for people.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Trying to get the notices up in the morning.

Advice for future Student Leaders: If you are doing notices make sure you have a doc that you can coping into the notices to make it faster, also don’t forget to write them up on the bored.

Leadership Position: Head Girl

Top moments this year: Some top moments this year were getting to help out with the quiz night, organising the Leavers Hoodies for 2019 and getting to open and close all sorts of events.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Some challenges I have faced this year were put on the spot and having all sorts of opportunities. Having these challenges really pushed me and made me a more confident person.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Some advice for next years Head Girl is if an opportunity gets thrown at you then take it. If you need help ask for it instead of hiding. Do these things and you will have a great time being Head Girl.

Leadership Position: Rimu House Captain

Top moments this year: My top moments this year have been the sports days because I have got to help run fun activities and give out house points. Another top moment for me has been being able to help the juniors with their events and being able to be a good role model.

Challenges/ tough times this year: A challenge for me this year has been when I help out someone for a day, but then I have to catch up the next day.

Advice for future Student Leaders: My advice for a future student leader is too help out as much as you can and keep up to date with all your learning so you don't get behind.

Top moments this year: Going to the GRIP Leadership Conference because I learnt a lot and it was so fun.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Talking in front of heaps of people and sometimes not having a script to read off.

Advice for future Student Leaders: At the start of the year talking is hard but as the year goes on it gets way easier.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone.

Challenges/ tough times this year: Was presenting the house points updates in assemblies.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Some advice for next year's student leaders are to have a growth mindset, to get involved & to be prepared for any challenges.

Leadership Position: Miro House Captain

Top moments this year: Going to the GRIP Leadership Conference at the beginning of the year, in which I walked away from with the knowledge of what qualities make a good leader. Also, having a large role in sports events: handing out pozi’s, contributing to the opening etc.

Challenges/ tough times this year: All the times I presented the house points update in assembly, as public speaking was always an area I found challenging.

Advice for future Student Leaders: Take every opportunity that comes your way, big or small.
