Home Learning Expectations

Well done to our students who are reading regularly at home each week and returning their completed Reading Logs to school each Friday to log their minutes. We have a number of children already past the Bronze level. We are currently finalising the rewards for each level. Keep up your reading at home.

Reading

Students will have reading to do at home 4 nights of the week. The expectation is that students will read for at least 15 minutes each night so at least an hour a week.

Some students will have reading texts sent home by the teacher for students to read with their whānau. They can also choose personal books to read too. Others will be able to choose the books they would like to read at home.

We are asking all students to record their reading on a reading log - the pages for this will be glued into their CARE book. They can enter the date and the name of the book each time.

There will be incentives for reading milestones eg 200 minutes, 500 minutes, 1000 minutes etc.

More information will be included on the Reading Log sheets.

Mathematics

Students will be able to complete activities on Prodigy which will align with their current level in Mathematics. Students will be able to do this at home 4 nights of the week. The expectation is that students will work on Mathematics questions for at least 15 minutes each night so at least an hour a week.

Basic facts practice is part of this programme too and whānau are welcome to extend this learning. If you are looking for further guidance please contact us.

There are also English activities on Prodigy which students can choose to do, as an additional home learning activity.
