Week 7 in the Year 7/8 Hub
Here's what's been happening in the Hub over the last week and the upcoming events in Week 8/9.
Literacy
This week students have continued to complete learning in their Novel Study. We have been focussing particularly on key themes, major events and character studies. Next week will conclude our final Novel Study for the year.
We have also continued to build on our learning around Social Movements and Protests. We are now asking students to select one major protest or social movement to research and learn about to see how it changed/impacted the lives of others/the world that we currently know.
Geometry
Geometry has been a huge success after shifting for Number Knowledge and strategy. Many students have been enjoying the learning around 2D/3D shapes, rotation, symmetry, reflection, translation, adjacent angles, supplementary angles, complementary angles and much more. I've attached a couple of activities some of our students are currently completing.
Integrated Learning
We are forever moving closer and closer to our shift in date to our new learning space. We are now posing some of the problems to our students and asking them to find/problem solve the solutions to the issues that we will have. Currently, we are looking into things such as how . each space will be used, furniture that will suit our needs, systems for bags, the roll, notices and much more. This is an exciting time and we are really looking forward to getting in there and doing our learning in a brand new space.
