2016 SCHOOL BASED HPV VACCINATION PROGRAMME (Year 8 girls only)

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common viral infection which can lead to cervical  cancer and genital warts. Early HPV vaccination offers the best protection against contracting these diseases. While girls in Canterbury can get this through their general practice at age 11, a number if girls have not completed the three needed for full protection. Therefore, from 2016, the Canterbury DHB will be offering a School Based HPV vaccination programme, which will be available to all girls in Year 8.

To enable students to receive the vaccination at school, parents will need to complete the consent form which will be sent home with the student along with with supporting information during the first weeks of Term 1. Please check with your daughter or the school to ensure you receive the consent form and information pack.
