Whats been happening for us?
Spring is in the air!
On Monday we were so proud of our students practising what to do for a 'Lock Down'. Students were able to do 2 important aspects - stay low, stay quiet. They were all well informed and did their best. Tino Pai Team!
Please remember to bring drink bottles. The weather has been warming up.
For the past 2 weeks our Provocation has been Spring. We know what months of the year the season is and what changes happen to the environment. We did some cute art making flowers for the wall.
For our writing we did a nature walk to explore our school environment and gathered up some leaves to make animal pictures with the leaves. Other writers in the waka were able to explore using their senses what the see, hear and smell with Spring happening around them.
We are starting Run, Jump and Throw for Physical Education. Teachers will be out on the field doing rotations and teaching the skills required. You will see us doing bean bag throws, hurdles, sprints and relays.
This week is Tongan language Week. We have integrated this into our programmes like counting to 10, practising greetings and colouring in some Tongan designs. Some of our Learning Stations have been exploring the islands and learning facts about Tonga.
We love Library Time. Each week we head to the library to look for books that we enjoy reading. They also have the option to go there during break time.
On Monday we had our CARE assembly. Congratulations to all the students that got their awards. Quite a lot of students are working on their Silver Awards - Tino Pai! you are showing the Oaklands Values.
Next week we have Te Reo Maori Week.
It is our Learning Celebration on Friday 15 September. You are invited to come for a shared breakfast. It officially starts at 8.55am. We will do the roll and meet together for a Hui. Then we will share some of our learning with you about our Transformation Inquiry.
Have an awesome week!
