Kakano Cross Country.

Rebecca Pilbrough —

Wow! What an exciting afternoon!

The rain stayed away and we were able to have the Kakano Cross Country. Hooray!
It was great to see all the parents there to support their child/ren.

Oaklands School Head and Deputy Head Boys, Noah and Jak opened the event to the cheers of delight from the students.
Miss Oates, Noah and Fletcher warmed us up with a the JumpJam  song 'Witch Doctor.'

The Fun Run then commenced. The Fun Run was designed and organised by the House Leaders. They did a great job with obstacles such as hurdles to jump over, poles to weave in between, a parachute to go under, skipping ropes to jump over and hoops to jump in. There were lots of smiles and eagerness to go around the course again! Each child who completed the course earnt five house points.

The Competitive Race was next.  Boys and girls ran separately in their respective Year groups. The cheers from the supporters was loud and proud. Each child showed determination to finish the race.  As this was an 'opt-in' element, we found more children opted-in after the Fun Run.
The first ten place-getters earned house points and congratulations go to...

A big shoutout goes to the parents who were able to support this event with their time and fabulous marshalling skills. We couldn't have done it without you.

Certificates for Sportsmanship were given to those children showing fairness, respect for their competitors and an excellent attitude.
