It has been a busy and productive term in the Year 7/8 Hub. Read the student's reflections on their term below.

Name: Annabel

This term I really have enjoyed going to winter sport with the year 5\6’s because I got to help umpire witch is really fun and I also really enjoyed going to Zones and Canterburys for cross country because It challenge me a lot. My favorite thing is buddy programme because I like playing with my little buddy.

I have really enjoyed term 2. It was fun starting volleyball and I have really enjoyed going to Winter Sport with the year ⅚’s. I loved doing the PCT and going to Cross Country Zones and Canteburys. Technology has been awesome and I love doing Kapa Haka. Overall it has been a great term.

I have enjoyed term 2 a lot. I have really enjoyed going to Te Hapua, I liked doing photography and coding. I really enjoyed coding because I had never made something from the 3D printer before and I liked learning how to do it. I also enjoyed doing photography because it was something I wanted to do, but had never done it properly before. I enjoyed learning what you need to do to take a good photo on a camera. Some other things I have liked from term 2 is Koru Games training. I am very happy I have made a team for Koru Games. I like the trainings because I get to practice what I need to work on and I get to have a mini games with my team and the other volleyball team. Overall I have enjoyed term 2 and I am excited to see what term 3 brings.

This term I have enjoyed doing arts rotation and doing art with Mr Brown. It has been fun but sometimes it has been complicated.

Name: Caleb

This term I have enjoyed practising for Koru Games because I love soccer and it is helping me improve my skills and play style. I have enjoyed doing problem solving with the rest of the Cantamaths people in the hub. I think that it has definitely helped me to get better, more accurate and faster at problem solving. I have enjoyed doing the emailing and Trademe challenge because it has made my writing look a whole lot more professional. I like the arts rotation because we get to learn beats with drumsticks and arts we got to draw 3d. One of my favourite hobbies is graphics designing and I was able to do that at tech and Romeo and I have made a gfx pack that we have already sold to six different people.

Reflection: this term I have enjoyed Kapa Haka because we learnt a new haka and it has been the best haka I have done this year.

Two things I have really enjoyed this term is the arts because I like learning stuff that I am good at because it makes me want to do even more of it and Koru Games training because I made the team that I wanted to even though I have never been to Koru Games before.

This term I have really enjoyed buddy program because I met a lot of people and some of the little buddies are my friends and at play time they always want to play with me.

I have really enjoyed this term with the learning we have been doing especially maths because I feel like I have made a lot of progress. I have also had lots of fun with Koru Games and I am proud that I made it into a team.

This term I really enjoyed the Koru Games, maths, cross country and integrated learning. I hope next week I will finish my work on time earlier. What I didn’t really enjoy was novel study. The best stuff ever was choir audition. I hope I will be sensible of where I am sitting more. My next step is to get my work done faster.

This Term I have enjoyed Te Hapua because I like photos and trying to find the alphabet in the library. It was pretty fun trying to do that but it took a while though. Another thing that I enjoyed this term was Technology because it was challenging to try and make a speaker box but I was pretty proud of what I did. My next step might be making more things out of wood for Tech.

This term I enjoyed Te Hapua.I liked photography because I got to take a picture of things and other stuff. I also really like doing the 3d printing because it is challenging.

This term has been really fun because I have enjoyed starting Koru Games practice, I have also found Tech fun because I love how we can make all different things. I have found novel study really challenging but I got through it and am really proud. I am also proud that I got into the B team for volleyball.

I have really enjoyed this term because we got to start training for Koru games and I am proud of myself for getting into the B team for Volleyball. I have also really enjoyed Tech because we get to learn lots of new things. Another thing I enjoyed was Kapa Haka because we got to do poi again and we learnt new songs. I have enjoyed novel study this term because the book Inside the Game turned out to be better than I thought it would.

This term I have enjoyed Te Hapua, due to the fact that I enjoy designing buildings using CAD. I have also enjoyed the maths rotation because I was learning a lot of new stuff in maths.

Name: Vanessa

This term I have enjoyed Tech because I was in foods and hard materials. In hard materials we made speaker boxes, which we got to paint. In foods we made lots of different things eg. cookies, scones, pasta, sushi, cupcakes and pancakes. I also enjoyed training for Koru Games because I got to improve on my volleyball skills. Overall I’ve had an interesting term.

his term I have enjoyed Kapa Haka because it was really fun to go down to the hall and practice each Friday.I have enjoyed Te Hapua because we get to do photography and 3D printing.

This term I like dong Koru Games because it was fun to go outside and play some Netball. The best thing to do in Netball was to learn about the 7 positions and I'm excited to play it next year.

This term I liked going to Zones and Canterburys for cross country because I have never done it before, so It was a fun experience.

This term I really enjoyed performing with KapaHaka in front of the Kakano and Kauri team.We are going to be performing in front of the whole school on Friday during the Celebration of Learning, so I’m excited for doing that. I also liked mastering all of my poi tricks,I was really proud of that accomplishment.

This term I really enjoyed Kapa-Haka because I got to have long poi. I’ve never experienced working with long poi, because my sister never joined Kapa-Haka before. Overall Kapa-Haka was really fun, learning new songs, my friends joined which made it much more fun!

This term I enjoyed Koru Games training because I like the opportunity and I am proud of getting into the A team for the first time for school netball. It was a little challenging working with all the people in my team but now we are getting faster.

This term I have mostly enjoyed Sustainability Reading, Novel Study, Te Hapua, Kapa Haka, Koru Games Practice, Matariki and the Art Rotations. I am also excited to see what else is to come in time because they ( the Teachers) have been such exciting options towards school learning and our choice of learning.

This term I have enjoyed doing IXL and the activities we have been set to do, which were time and temp, problem solving, strategy and knowledge learning. I have also enjoyed Koru games Practice, Arts Rotation, Buddy Programme, Kapa Haka. All these activities have been enjoyable and made this term kind of fun.

This term I have enjoyed doing the buddy program because I got to work with a lot of different types of people and also doing Koru Games practice because I got to help run the teams .

In Term 2 I have enjoyed Koru Games training. I have also enjoyed going to winter sport because we won some of the games. I liked going to Technology because I got make a speaker box and it looks really good. One other thing I enjoyed was going to Canterbury Cross Country because I got 41st.

This term for me was really good because the subjects that we have done were really fun and challenging. My highlight for this term was buddy program because we got to interact with our little buddies and help.

This Term was really fun. I enjoyed doing winter sport with the year 6’s because it was fun giving them some tips about rugby and helping out Mr Forman. I also enjoyed Koru Games. I was proud because I got into the touch team and I have had lots of fun at Koru Games trainings.

This term I really liked Kapa Haka because we got to perform in front of the Kakano team and the Kauri team and then we got to perform in front of the whole school, plus some parents. My highlight this term is Te Hapua.

This term I really enjoyed Technology because it was really fun and I liked it and I also liked Kapa Haka and it was really fun. I also really like buddy reading because I really like seeing the little kids.

This term was very enjoyable because we got lots of opportunities in learning and sport. This term I liked Technology because I liked making a speaker box, but it was quite challenging. I also liked Koru Games training because I got selected in the football team and the visiting coach challenges me everyday at trainings.

This term was great. I like doing Koru Games because I like the football trainings.

Name: Maria

This was my first term at Oaklands and I really enjoyed it. Some of my favourite things are Te Hapua, Technology, Kapa Haka, and Integrated Learning. I really enjoyed Kapa Haka because at first I didn't want to do it but now I am enjoying it. I like Integrated Learning because it is all about saving the planet and I think I did really well. I completed every activity before the deadline, though I was a little bit slower on the activities ‘Overpopulation’ and ‘Water Quality’. In Technology, I am really enjoying working with Iris, and 3D printing because it is my first time using a 3D printing machine. I am enjoying Te Hapua with Jennifer. My favourite thing to do was photography. I really like the camera grid because some photos look much better when on a certain line, even if they are the exact same as another photo that is in the centre of the grid.

I enjoyed Tech and Te Hapua and hanging out with my friends. School was hard at the start but now its a lot better and I enjoyed it so much more than Term 1.

This term I enjoyed Kapa Haka because we got to learn a new haka.

This term has seemed to fly past from all the fun learning we have been involved in. Amongst all that learning, I really enjoyed going to Tech because I was in foods, my favourite pentad. I liked how our groups were given different sugars and flours to make a certain food eg: biscuits and scones and we compared them to each other to see how they were different. In the classroom, I enjoyed doing novel study even though the book wasn’t exactly the best, I still liked doing the activities. I found maths this term to be quite challenging, especially with the number strategy which included learning of decimals, I found learning about positive and negative numbers the hardest. Overall,this term has been great and I can’t wait for next term.

This term I enjoyed Novel study, Sustainability Reading, Real world writing, Matariki and Mandarin. I like doing novel study because I like my novel Lost. It’s about survival in a jungle. I enjoyed sustainability reading because it helps me to learn a lot of problems that happened on Earth. I’m really happy when I do the real world writing because it’s fun to write your own Trademe listings and Job application. I think creating Matariki stars are fun and also learning Mandarin is fun because I can help Julie and Dishti. Also I enjoyed going to choir and singing each Friday morning because I like singing. I really like this term. :)

This term I have really enjoyed Technology because you can learn new skills and have fun. I have been challenged by Koru Games practice because it is new to me and I haven’t done very hard sport like this. I am very grateful for my teachers for putting in all the hard work for the hub and organizing events for us. I am also grateful for my friends for supporting me this term and probably for the rest of the year. :)

This term I have enjoyed doing real world writing because we get to write about how to email, write a winning Trademe listing, job application and a set of instructions. I also have been enjoying Koru Games training and for Koru Games I am doing football as a sport. I have also enjoyed integrated learning because we got to write about real world problems in the environment and world.

This term I have enjoyed training for Koru Games. I made it into the soccer team and I have had a great term apart from week 8 when I got in trouble.

This term has been fun. Some things that I have enjoyed are the PCT because it was very fun and challenging; my favourite part of the course was the wall. This term I have liked Te Hapua because it is fun taking pictures with a really nice camera. I have also liked Technology because I am in textiles and design and it is fun learning to sew.

This Term has been very enjoyable because we have done lots of fun things. I really liked Koru Games training because I got in a team with my friends and I also got in the top team. Something that was challenging this term was my maths because I hadn’t done some of that type of maths for ages so it was hard to remember what to do. Something I am proud of this term is getting all my novel study done and turned in before the deadline I am also proud of the team I go in for Volley.

This term I enjoyed going to Canterburys because I never thought I would. I also enjoyed going to P.C.T, I liked doing all the activities in the course.

I like technology because wood work is fun and I am in a good group with some friends. Buddy program is fun because we get to hang out with the little kids and they are really cute.

This term has been exciting and busy for me because I have had a lot of opportunities in the school. I enjoyed lots this term like Tech, Kapa Haka,and Koru Games. I have loved doing junior and senior kapa haka because I have been able to work with Matua Rihari and the students. Something else I have done this term is Koru Games and helping coach the A and B team. I think everyone has come a long way from when they started. Tech this term has been great because I was doing digi tech so that means that there was a lot of coding which I have not done a lot of but I like it a lot and learned so much from this pen-tad.

I am looking forward to the next term and I hope I will enjoy it.

This term I have really enjoyed doing Kapa Haka and the Matariki activite’s because it was really fun to do the colouring for the big Matariki artwork.

This term I enjoyed doing Technology because I got to make a pillow for my sister and a mini ghost cushion and it was a lot of fun.

I liked technology because I made a minecraft bed for Alredo the hedgehog.

I liked Koru Games practice because I’m for training football and I liked a game that you had to touch the ball then drop the bib.
