Weetbix TRYathlon 2023 - We were there
Over 45 students and their wonderful cheer support team (parent, siblings and relatives) braved an early morning and some pre-race nerves to participate in this amazing event.
Held at Jellie Park and the surrounding area our athletes, ranging in age from 6 to 13, swam, biked and ran themselves to a well deserved medal and the satisfaction of completing the ever popular Weet-bix TRYathlon.
A huge thank you to the wonderful parents/caregivers/ siblings/relatives who got them involved, and were there cheering them on.
Chelsea McKenzie. Chief Yr 5/6 Journalist interviewed some of the athletes.

I enjoyed Getting the opportunity to participate in the weet bix tryathlon and to meet people I haven't seen in a while. There was also food such as a pita pit, a hot chocolate stand, spaghetti toasties, popcorn, sushi and a drink stand .
I liked the very good viewing spots because I could see very clearly. It was a bit intimidating. There were a lot of people; there were around 2000 kids and 3300 adults.
I did swimming, biking , and running. There were lots of parent helpers. It was at Jellie Park.
There were water stands where you could pick up water .There was a merch stand. I am very good at swimming and biking and that gave me a big advantage. It was a 4k bike and 1500 metre run, and I definitely got tired towards the end.
The down side was doing its first thing at 8:00am. Numbers The photographer took photos of me when I was swimming, biking and running.
Overall I think I did good because I completed it and I had a good mental attitude.

Something I liked was the transition parts because you get to do it yourself and get yourself your next transition or another thing you're going to do.
The thing I enjoyed the most was the biking because of all the nice people who cheered me on and because it was the easiest thing out of swimming, running and biking.
One of the sections of the running track I really enjoyed because it had hydration stations to get water and take a break.
I didint like the amount of people in the swimming groups; there was about ten in each. Because there were so many people, it was hard to swim .I was nervous but I'm glad I did it.
The food that was there was Weet bix ,watties toastie , sushi, popcorn and more but I can't remember.
I got tired toward the end. It was my first time doing the weet bix tryathalon and because of that I didint know that there was a bigger loop at the end.
Everybody had to get there about 7:00 to pick up your racing pack. There was a t-shirt, swimming bag, swimming cap, and different stickers .
I think I did good because I was quite fast and I kept going .
