This term the Year 7/8 Hub are learning about sustainability.

In particular we are looking at how we can protect our fragile planet and it's dwindling resources. We have started our unit of learning by exploring some of the big issues facing our Earth. 

By the end of this week we will have investigated over population, overfishing/ by-catch, climate change, water quality, deforestation and plastics in the ocean. 

We appear to have touched a bit of a nerve and many of the students are becoming very passionate about the way that we are treating our planet. 

This week we were treated to a 'protest cake' made by Maria. While the cake was yummy and provided a nice treat at morning tea, the message on the cake was clear and demonstrated the passion that has been stirred up. There is only 1 Earth!

 We are looking forward to the taking action phase of this unit of learning where the students will have an opportunity to take their own action to help protect our fragile planet. Watch this space!
