T3, Week 9 Update

karen van gelder-horgan —

Library Visit

On Monday we got to visit the Halswel Library. Some of the highlights from the trip were:

- Going on a bus

- Getting to take home books

- Being read a story

- Having awesome parent helpers (a big thank you to those who came helped out on the day!!)

Assembly

We got to host the kakano assembly this week. Well done to the Choir and Kapa Haka who performed and to all of our presenters.

Writing

This week we got to share and write about our school experiences: We wrote about what we think our teachers do to help us feel happy, healthy, positive and like we belong. We also discussed activities that help us learn and things we would like to do more of in class.

Maths

This term our Maths Strand has been volume. We have been learning to estimate, measure and  compare volumes. As part of this, we filled containers up with different amounts of water (and in turn realised that the container with the highest water level doesn't necessarily have the most volume).

Reading

Reading has continued as normal. Student's should be coming home with a book every day (they may have the same book for 2 days).

Topic: Bees, Botany and Birds!

We continue to work on our different projects whether that be designing/building plant boxes, making bird feeders or planting a bee garden/researching bees/making posters.
