Distance Learning - Hub 1 Week 2
Monday 20th April - Friday 24th April
We have loved having you join us for the Zoom Whānau Huis each morning! It has been great to see your smiley faces and learn all about what has been keeping you busy at home during the lockdown.
This week the Zoom Whānau Huis will include a shared book lesson. This lesson will be similar to what we teach within the classroom setting and will lead on to the literacy tasks we have set out in the distance learning slideshow. You will also notice that the other learning on our slideshow also relates to the big book for the week. The theme is Bubbles!
For Individual Reading, we have added 5 new books (1 per day) to the sunshine classics group for your child. We have also left the 3 books from the previous week to allow your child to re-read those books and consolidate that learning.
Here is the link to the distance learning slideshow for your easy reference - the new slides commence from Monday 20th April - Friday 24th April.
The children really enjoyed having a theme to our Zoom Whānau Huis and we would like to continue that for this week. This is totally optional, but join in if you can!
The themes will be....
Monday - Wacky Hair Day - come with your craziest hair style!
Tuesday - Dress Up Day - come in a costume that you have at home!
Wednesday - Pyjama Party - come in your PJs or onesies!
Thursday - Teddy Bear Day - bring your favourite soft toy!
Friday - Formal Friday - come in your best clothes!
Below are some important notices that are being communicated by every Hub in their blog posts this week - please read carefully.
Students Zooming Each Other
We understand that students may want to Zoom each other under parental supervision. Under Zoom’s Terms and Conditions, students under the age of 13 should not hold Zoom accounts. Zoom’s Terms and Conditions allow students to have Zoom accounts under their School Subscriber’s account. This allows the students to be participants in meetings and also the school can maintain supervision and control over the students and their meeting experiences. If students are video calling other students, parents will need to create a personal Zoom account or use another platform with a personal account. A personal account must be used because the school is not able to monitor student to student calls effectively.
Zoom Meetings
We have Zoom protocols in place to ensure that all students and teachers have a positive learning experience using Zoom. Please familiarise yourself and your child with these protocols and if anyone does not follow them, they will be removed from the Zoom call and parents will be contacted. We will be recording our Zoom meetings and adding them to a folder in Google Drive that can be accessed at a later time if students cannot make the meeting. You can access these recordings using an Oaklands School account only. If you wish to change your child’s name that appears on the Zoom call, you can do so under Profile in settings on the Zoom website. If you do not want your child’s face to appear in the Zoom call, you can turn the camera off during the Zoom call.
Have an awesome weekend!
Take care, stay safe, be kind to your parents and your siblings.
See you all on Monday at your Zoom Whānau Hui - 9:10am - Look out for the invite from your teacher!
