Rebuild update 5 September

Margaret Trotter —

Work is progressing well on room 20 and 21. Our architect will be visiting the school next week to discuss colours as part of our rebuild programme.

You will be seeing the words ILE which refers to Innovative Learning Environment.  This is the terminology used to refer to the new flexible learning spaces.  An ILE is set up to provide a holistic approach to learning that reflects the international Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (OCED) guide for The Nature of Learning to ensure our young people are confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong students.

An ILE refers to the learning ecosystem within a school and flexible spaces refers to the infrastructure element of an ILE.

An ILE is designed to keep pace with changes in education as it evolves to be more collaborative and learner-focused.

Information from educationalists state:

Carl Frey suggests that up to 60% of the jobs of the future have not been developed yet and that 40% of the five year old students in schools today will need to be self-employed to have any form of income. Dylan Wiliam, British educationalist and Emeritus Professor of Educational Assessment, states “the purpose of education is to prepare students for a world we can’t envisage, so when they are stuck, they choose to think, instead of remember.”

This is one of the greatest challenges for school's today as we review our curriculum plan to meet the needs of a changing world.
