Classes 2017
Our staff have been spending many hours completing classes and programmes for 2017. Letters will be going home today.
As the school moves to our flexible learning spaces our classes for next year will also reflect this move. In 2017, your child will have one teacher who will be identified as their home teacher known as the Whanau teacher. The role of the Whanau teacher will be:
The first person for you to access for any information for learning or behaviour needs or concerns.
This teacher is the person responsible for your child’s wellbeing and pastoral care needs.
Your child will have 2 or 3 other teachers who will be teaching them on a daily basis.
Learning Spaces
We will continue the collaboration models that we presented to you at our parent meetings this year.
All year levels will be organised into hubs. Students will not have a specific classroom. This means that one classroom space will be the Whanau Hui room (the meeting room where all the year group will meet to start the day as a year group). Depending on the programme students will then be grouped for their learning needs and will be working with specific teachers on their goals as identified in their learning pathways. Bags and lunch boxes will be in set cloakrooms and stationery will be stored in individual containers to enable them to be moved with the children.

We are reorganising our classes in 2017 to prepare our teachers and students for our rebuild of our flexible learning spaces. The model we will be using is based on the teaching and learning programmes our Year 7 and 8 classes have implemented since 2015 using shared learning spaces.
